ZULUDIVER Sponsors Local 6-A-Side Football Team

We love to help our community here at ZULUDIVER, and we were approached by a local 6-a-side football club who needed funding for a new team kit.

They told us about the history behind their team and we really felt they were a suitable match for ZULUDIVER for their genuine enthusiasm in football, fun and fitness.

The “Tewkesbury Prawns” made their debut on September 26th, 2011, at 9:20pm, at the Tewkesbury Sports Centre located on the grounds of the local Tewkesbury School.

They regrettably lost the game 12-0, but they continued to play through Monday night's match, unfazed by their defeat.

Their fortunes have been varied throughout the years, but it was the fun of the game that motivated the squad to keep playing.

In August 2020, due to a series of player departures, the squad was having difficulty fielding a team every week. However, Dave, the team's goalkeeper also played for "The Desperado's," who were having the same problem and the two teams combined to create "The Prawns."

Over the course of 11 years, 36 different players have played for the squad, with only a few founding members remaining. The team's unique pink and black kit has always stood out among the other teams and the referees and other players know them well.

Last season, the football league was taken over by Leisure Leagues, one of the largest and most experienced football operators in the world. "The Prawns" had one of their best seasons, going undefeated and winning their division in addition to receiving a fantastic trophy from Leisure Leagues.

Their team kit is their second since they began playing and it was paid for by the members of the squad. After many years of playing and washing it is now looking pretty worn.
